Person-centered
In many schools, teachers deliver content to a classroom full of students based on a fixed curriculum. This works for a purpose and for good reasons! For one, it ensures that all Victorian students have access to a shared foundation of knowledge, skills and aptitudes. This also mirrors the workplace where students will eventually transit into. Organisations are dynamic collections of diverse individuals keeping in step with a shared mission, vision and values.
Five Tuition complements school-based approaches by zooming in on the student as a unique Person with a set of experiences, personality differences, aspirations and needs. We place the student firmly at the center of learning. The curriculum then is the natural conversations that take place between the student and the tutor - a respected mentor who has recently travelled the path the student is travelling. Five provides the one-on-one attention that helps students thrive whilst also providing enough social engagement for them to feel connected and part of a community.

At Five Tuition, we believe learning happens most naturally and effectively when someone you respect sits humbly beside you, helps you with something, speaks honestly to you, has hope for you, and above all, honours their commitment to bring about positive changes for you not only at school but also in life. Impact-focused
We guarantee impact because we take our mission of helping students thrive in school and life seriously. We firmly believe Five exists to bring about positive change in our community one child at a time, one session at a time, one step at a time. At each session, our tutors and students set goals and these goals are evaluated and reported at the end of each session. If the student is regular in attendance, they will for sure demonstrate improvements in knowledge acquisition or skills development over time.

Evidence-Based
Everything we seek to do is informed by academic literature, learning theories and careful consideration of the evidence. Even our recruitment and training practices are anchored on an evidence-based approach. We review resumes, academic results, and conduct interviews to seek out the the nicest, brightest and most talented university students who live in Melbourne's West. Our tutors have all achieved exceptional scores in the state examinations and have a heart to make a difference in the community. We provide our tutors with theory-informed frameworks to support them in their tutoring. At the same time, we acknowledge our tutors are brilliant enough to have their own tips and trick to share with students and we strongly encourage them to take the lead.

Inclusivity-Embracing
Five Tuition firmly believes everyone should be entitled to the person-centered, values-driven, impact-focused and evidence-based approach we adopt. We are therefore constantly finding ways to cater to a diverse range of students and subjects. Since 2020, we have been offering online tutoring for students who prefer the convenience of learning from home - or on the go! We are also constantly finding ways to ensure our prices remain affordable. For families and students who may be facing temporary challenges in life, the directors offer financial grants.
